It's a perfect square lot with rolling hills, horse barn, in ground pool and the most important aspect to me, a huge oversized 3 car garage! Since we are getting it for so cheap and all the finish work on the inside will be free(me), we can really open up the pocketbook and still come out on top with 6 figures in equity. We are getting the property(5 acres) and home for so cheap, we are basically buying the land. The property is in a very nice town in Clifton, Northen Virginia. After looking for 11 months and Backing out of 2 deals, we finally found this steal of a home. I'm hoping to be in the house for 20+ years.
it’s not rocket science after all! But having them help with it since they were very young helped them not to take clean laundry for granted, plus we enjoyed spending time together talking while doing mundane tasks such as folding clothes when they were young! Can they learn it quickly as an adult suddenly on their own? Sure! That’s how I learned it. My kids have enjoyed the level of competence they’ve felt having had this task (and some others) solidly under their belt. It was nice that they had one less skill to learn as they’ve left the nest. As my kids got older and got jobs and started going to college, obviously we had to adjust laundry days and times but that was pretty easy. The only times I’ve done their laundry since that time has been if they’ve been sick, or if we’ve all come back from vacation or camping and then I just do everything together at once since that’s easier, especially if it smells like campfire. In the beginning I supervised each step, but that didn’t need to last long and they were washing all of their own clothing, bedding, and towels. We had two girls who shared a room, and three boys who shared a room at those ages, so I gave my girls one day of the week and my boys another day of the week for their laundry. Around the pre-teen age and by 13 at the latest I made sure each of my children totally took over their own laundry.
My kids used to accompany me to their rooms and we’d put their clean laundry away together, and they were always taught where to put dirty clothes. I had all of our kids help with laundry since they were toddlers and I taught them to hand me clothes and start to fold dish towels and washcloths. We’ve been a homeschooling family for 17 years, so our kids learned all kinds of household tasks and projects by our sides.
